Priesthood Ordinations

Cardinal Cupich will ordain seven diocesan priests at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 29 at St. John Brebeuf Parish. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s ceremony will have limited attendance for only invited guests of the Ordinands and a select group of clergy. The ordination will be livestreamed on our Catholic Chicago YouTube page and Archdiocesan Facebook page.

St. Emily Parish especially celebrates this event with Hank Lyons who will be ordained on that day. Following ordination, he will be assigned as Associate Pastor to St. Emily Parish.

A Guide to Watching the Rite of Ordination for the Priesthood

In preparation for the livestreamed ordination, Father John Kartje offers a look at seven key moments to watch for in the Rite of Ordination for the Priesthood. Take a look and share with others – it’s a great way to better understand what happens during the priestly ordination ceremony and further engage when you watch a livestream of the rite or attend the ceremony in person in the future.
