Did you know…
That our program is staffed almost entirely by volunteers?
That we need 35-40 catechists each year?
That we need 15-20 catechist assistants to help in the lower grades?
That we need 15-20 substitute catechists each year? (and that we never have enough!)
That we need 6-8 volunteers/month for hall monitoring, attendance, phone calls, etc.?
That we need 8-10 volunteers/month to insure safe arrival and dismissal of children?
Did you know…
That some of our catechists have been in this ministry for 5 -10 years or more?
That every year new catechists are welcomed into our program?
That you can work full time, juggle homework, sports and doctor appointments and still enjoy the time you spend volunteering at St. Emily?
Did you know…
That we need you?
And finally, did you know…
That we are amazed and delighted each year with the wonderful response we get from parishioners who are willing to share their love of Jesus with our children? Thank you!
CATECHISTS, ASSISTANTS, SUBSTITUTES
Would you like to share your faith and help our parish children discover their Catholic identity? Full training, support, and resources are provided. We have 25 sessions scheduled from September through April, on Wednesday evenings for grades 1 – 8 and on Saturday mornings for grades K – 8. Formation and planning meetings are held locally, approximately once a month, on Thursday evenings. The Archdiocese of Chicago also offers numerous off-site opportunities for catechist training and certification, supported by St. Emily Parish. If you are interested in joining this vital and fulfilling ministry, please let us know and we will call you with more information.
MISC. VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
As parents, your help is so valuable and there are many areas where you can be of service, giving as much or as little time as your schedule allows. The following page lists the areas where we need help. There are actually two forms included, because mom and dad are both allowed to volunteer. Please look it over carefully and return it with your name(s) and phone number and indicate any areas that interest you.

All St. Emily Parish volunteers must be willing to comply with the policies and guidelines contained in the Archdiocese of Chicago Protecting God's Children program (completing an online registration form, agreeing to a criminal background check, and attending a 3-hour child abuse seminar). The Religious Education office will assist with instructions and scheduling
